My parents are getting older, and we want them to move in with us. However, our backyard is tiny, so a separate cottage is out of the question. Does anyone have experience with adding a suite directly onto the side of the house? Is it cheaper than building a standalone unit?

If space is tight, I’d definitely go with an attached adu. We recently finished one with Aduscale, and it was much more cost-effective because we shared existing utility lines.
