Discovery 4 with the dreaded transmission fault and I'm not sure where to even start in Sharjah
My 2013 Discovery 4 has been the family adventure wagon for years now and we've taken it everywhere from Liwa to Jebel Jais without a single complaint until last Tuesday when I was pulling away from a set of lights near Al Nahda and the dashboard suddenly lit up with that orange transmission fault warning and the car just refused to shift out of what felt like third gear and I had to limp it home at forty kilometers an hour with the kids in the back asking why we were going so slow and a queue of irritated drivers behind me flashing their lights. I did the usual trick of turning it off and on again and the fault cleared for a couple of days but now it's back and happening more frequently and I've got that sinking feeling that the ZF six speed is on borrowed time and the main dealer will probably just quote me a replacement gearbox that costs more than the car is worth at this point. I started asking around in a few Land Rover WhatsApp groups and a couple of guys mentioned there's a workshop that actually specializes in Land Rover Gearbox Repair Sharjah and they've got the proper diagnostic kit to read the exact fault codes and check if it's just a worn valve body or something more sinister like the torque converter locking up. I'm just trying to figure out if it's worth towing it over to Industrial Area from my place or if anyone here has actually had their Discovery or Range Rover gearbox rebuilt locally and can tell me whether it's a proper long term fix or just a temporary band aid before the whole thing fails again next summer when I'm trying to get to Fujairah with a car full of beach gear.
